I have been through an emotional roller coaster this week and I decided that it was time to take a drive and sing loudly and badly to music. Honestly, after singing my first two songs I could have just turned around and come home for I felt much better. I have been sick for about a week and a half now. It started with a cough and then I got congested. On top of that I have had a weak headache going for the past few days. Woo-hoo! Anyways. I have noticed that on days that I feel horrible it is because I have [...] Ran across an infographic about Facebook over it’s six years of existence. Yes it has only been six years. Here are some of the scary stats: Average user spends over 55 minutes on FB every day I am [...] Rasmussen College put an infographic article together putting the Haiti earthquake death toll in context with other death tolls. Pretty powerful. Came across an article about food stamps that stated “nearly half of all U.S. children and 90 percent of black youngsters will be on food stamps at some point during childhood.” Another article states that “more than 36 million people use inconspicuous plastic cards for staples like milk, bread and cheese.” How freaking scary is that! [...] Came across an article tonight about e-waste and what happens to a lot of ‘recycled’ electronics. At the end of the article is a link to a PBS Frontline/World video about e-waste in Ghana and China. I highly suggest you read the article and watch the video. I walk by a federal building on the way to work and I see the President and VP photo above the entrance. How many of these photos are there in federal buildings around the world? How much money is spent developing the photos and shipping them to where they need to go? What happens to [...] In the mall Victoria’s Secret and Frederick’s of Hollywood are right next to each other. Directly across from them, a maternity store. At work today my co-worker called me a nerd and for some reason I was offended. I told her I was a geek and she said that they are the same. I told her they weren’t but could not come up with a reason why. Not really sure why I would rather be called a geek [...] In an earlier post I talked about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I came across a serires of videos that a group at VBS.TV put together that details their journey of sailing from California to the garbage patch and talking with researchers/scientists along the way about the patch.
