Getting there

We left the morning of the 1st of January – yes new year’s day. And since it was the morning of the holiday, why not start it first thing in the morning with a pick up at 6am. What a great way to start the trip!

The flight was on continental and was nothing special. Our flight back had a 4 hour layover, so we tried to switch to an earlier flight while we were waiting to leave. It would have cost each of us (4 total) $900 to change the ticket so that we could leave Houston 2 hours earlier to get to Phoenix. $900 freaking dollars!!!!! The total cost of the trip (airfare, hotel, food, drinks) was $1400 and they want us to pay $900 for one of the four legs – what kind of crap is that! Needless to say, if you fly continental, make sure you do not need to change your flight time.

While going through the security line, there was a lady with 3 daughters (I think they were twins around 4 or 5 and then a younger girl). For being so early in the morning and by herself I was amazed at how well she was doing at getting them through the line. One of the girls got wanded because she had something in her pockets and did not understand what the security lady was asking of her. It was pretty cute seeing a 4 year old with her arms out.

We ended up getting in Cancun around sunset, waited for at least 30 minutes for our van and then it took an hour to get to the hotel. Overall a very long day.
